My name is Ben Johnson and I’ve been teaching guitar since 2003. In that time I’ve carried rosters of up to 60 students a week, across a variety of ages, interests, and abilities. In addition to teaching, I’ve spent the last 17 years performing throughout the northwest and producing a lot of local events. Previously, I’ve maintained commercial storefronts or worked from music stores. Currently, I’m very happy to be teaching exclusively from my home studio in Terrace Heights, where I also record myself and other musicians.

I believe that to keep a student excited and interested it is important to tailor a lesson plan to their preferences and goals. For some students this means a traditional beginning- learning to read sheet music from a traditional beginning guitar book. For others, it means jumping right in with power chords and heavy riffs. Regardless of the path, we track practice, progress, repertoire, and more through our easy online portal. Payments and scheduling can be handled there as well.  

Lessons are $100 per month to reserve a minimum of four scheduled 30 minute sessions. Usually, lessons are scheduled at the same time each week and invoiced monthly. Other arrangements are possible. The studio is an inclusive environment and I don’t believe the ability to pay should limit a student’s opportunity.
